I just got a new martphone with email, etc. that has Bluetooth. I can
connect it to my desktop PC to get an internet connection for email, web
browsing, etc. The smartphone doesn't have WiFi (remote connection is via
the cell phone data link). Are there any portable WiFi-over-Bluetooth
"modems" that would allow me to bring my smartphone into, let's say,
Starbucks, and get my email over the Bluetooth connection?
I've looked around and found a D-Link Bluetooth access point....but that is
pretty far from portable and must require lots of setup to get it to work.

I think there's something like this, but can't be precise. The BT Access
Point is a wired one - it needs a LAN connection and it's not wi-fi enabled
for this connection.
