2 gb or 3gb

Last response: in Motherboards

Hey, I was wondering which would be faster. In my scenario, I have 2x512 gb of ddr2 5300 5-5-5-12 ram. I also have a 2x1gb of ddr2 6400 5-5-5-18 ram. If is use both at the same time, with both in their dual channel slots, will the dual channel still work, as in
Slot1: 6400 Slot2:6400
Slot3: 5300 Slot4: 5300

Is it faster just to have slots 1 and 2 with the 6400 ram, or will the performance be the same with both 5300 and 6400 ram?

More about : 3gb

You'll just have to try it; sometimes when mixing ram, the board won't post; your board will default to the slower ram speed, but you won't notice the difference. The 5300 has faster timings, but slower fsb. It's a tossup.

I put in all the rams together in the motherboard, how do I test them for their speed. I am using Passmark's Performance Test. Can you give me step by step details on how to compare and contrast one memory test from another?

No. Benchmarks don't mean that much. The difference is negligable. If you want to see a real difference, overclock your cpu. I set mine from 200 to 240 fsb and leave the ram in auto sometimes on my backup system.
