Approximate Purchase Date: This week

Budget Range: 300-400

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, movies (i have alot of movies)

Parts Not Required: Dont need screen, mouse, keyboard, and may not need a Psu.

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Anything that ships to the uk.

Country of Origin: Uk

Parts Preferences: by brand or type I've never had experience with AMD, but if it's better than the intel counterpart for the price i will go with that,

Overclocking: Maybe, but i dont know how to do, and i dont want a water cooled system

SLI or Crossfire: If i can afford it.

Monitor Resolution: Best i can get.

Additional Comments: I would like a quiet PC, and i dont need a Operating system, also i would buy a premade computer if it's good.

Thanks.

Llano will work great at 1680x1050 or lower resolutions

And it should be obtainable for £300. Get higher bandwidth RAM (1866+ MHz), that platform scales really well.

So thats a good processor? what about the other parts?

I just recently put together a system with these components...

TOTAL: $372.29

* I'm not sure if Microcenter will ship to UK, but this is just a rough ideal of what you can expect for that amount of money... With $30 or so until you hit that $400 limit, you can put that extra money towards a better video card.

*** BUT!!! Like the others have said, the Llano can be had for around the same price (maybe a little more pricier), and may give better performance.

Here's a quick Llano build I just put together...

AMD A8-3850 Llano 2.9GHz 4MB L2 Cache Socket FM1

ASRock A75M FM1 AMD A75 (Hudson D3) HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900)

Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

TOTAL: $324.96

That's without the power supply as you might already have one that you can use (as stated), no case as some people are picky with how their computer looks, andddd no cd/dvd drive but those can be had for like 20 bucks.

Indeed, the point about Llano is you don't need a discrete GPU. You get a 4 core processor and a decent GPU in one package for a very reasonable price. Superb choice for a low end computer like this. And you can add a 6670 later for hybrid crossfire.
October 19, 2011 3:50:16 PM

Does anyone have a Llano build that whill ship to the uk?
October 19, 2011 3:57:38 PM

You should check out www.newegg.com and see if their site ships to the UK. If not, I'm sure there's other local sites (stores even) that may better if bought there.

The Llano build above is with the highest clock cpu/best gpu for the FM1 socket. Solid motherboard with SATA 6.0 & USB 3.0; fast 1866 ram to drive your cpu/gpu chip! If I were to build around Llano, that's how it would look.

Does it come with a fan that build? Also for hd what graphics card would you recoment, cheap

Also it the llano better than sandy bridges
a b B Homebuilt system
a b Ý World of Warcraft
October 19, 2011 11:00:53 PM

that comes with a build in HD6550D graphics card, which is VERY solid for playing games at medium settings at 1680x1050 (30-45 FPS).

you can add a HD 6670 in hybrid crossfire, which will improve your fps in DX 11 games by 10-15fps, less so in DX 9 and 10.

anything more powerful than the 6670, and it shuts down the built-in GPU.
October 19, 2011 11:15:26 PM

Is the llano build easy to upgrade at a later date? If i was to get a more updatable intel build what would i be buying? for 300-400£

upgrade to Llano is uncertain. Its its own socket...we don't know if trinity will use that socket or not.

I'll look at a 400 pound intel build when I get home tonight.

that's a solid build. intel build would swap in an H61 mobo and an i3-2100

I think the Llano builds were being suggested because people thought initially it was 300 dollars, not 300 pounds
October 20, 2011 9:33:24 AM

Thanks very much Screwy and yummers, i'll look into the quad core amd as stated above,

Does anyone have a Intel build that will be kinda upgradable in the future as id rather just add parts than have to replace as i get the money.

Thanks again.
October 20, 2011 9:38:19 AM

Also i can do without a harddrive i have a sata 1 tb, and a cd drive i have a good external.
October 20, 2011 10:49:10 AM

Also how does the i3-2100 stack up to the llano, will i be able to play wow on max? And skyrim
a b B Homebuilt system
a b Ý World of Warcraft
October 20, 2011 11:56:21 AM

The 2100 is faster than Llano. If you stick with IPC graphics, the Llano more than catches up with its onboard GPU, but with a good GPU, the 2100 just keeps on going past it.

(disarded build....I had an intel quad, but it went to 431 pounds)
a b B Homebuilt system
October 20, 2011 1:32:10 PM

The X4 plus 6770 does seem like the best choice for 400.
October 20, 2011 1:47:36 PM

Would the 6770 build be easily upgraded?

thanks for the help guys :)
October 20, 2011 2:59:40 PM

Yes, the reason I chose the Phenom Quad over the i3 HT is that games are threaded for multiple cores, so though the i3 may be faster, it is a Dual Core with HT, and in the long run the Phenom will be faster and you'll be able to upgrade it later on.

The HD 6770 is exactly the same, cards like that usually sell fast of Ebay, so when you need a new card. just sell the HD 6770 and grab your upgrade.

No problem btw.

If i was to somewhere downthe line get a i7 would i just be able to put it into this motherboard?
October 22, 2011 10:10:16 PM

October 22, 2011 10:31:23 PM

If you get a 2400 now, it will be able to upgrade to an i7-2600K later... then again, you'll probably want a better Socket 1155 motherboard than an H or P 67.

Yes the i5 processors are very capable; you will need a new video card that'll cost you a pretty penny though!
