Hyper 212 plus vs. Evo

Newegg has the cooler master hyper 212 plus for $19.99. The hyper 212 Evo on amazon is $33.97. I'm using a i5-2500k cpu. Is the Evo worth the additional $.

I would say no, the 212 plus works wonderfully for me and the evo will only get you 1-3 degrees C cooler, not really significant for overclocking needs.

The Evo has a slightly different fan which improves airflow a small amount. It is also ever so slightly noisier, but not really enough to notice. The Evo is also 46 grams lighter. Overall I would say the EVO is not worth the extra bucks, even at regular prices.

I have both of these HSFs on very similar systems. There is virtually no difference in performance. The EVO lacks the grooves between the heatpipes, otherwise they are nearly identical.

Get the better bargain (212+) and spend your money elsewhere on your system.

Newegg doesnt have the 212+ for 19.... got me all excited... I hopped on the egg to buy a couple and they were 29.

$20 for a 212+ plus is a great deal! Also, the EVO is just slightly better, and should really effect overclocking. I would grab the 212+ unless money really isn't a problem. If money isn't a problem anyway, go for water cooling though! haha.

If I was buying right now, the 212+ would be the one I would pick.

"They" would be wrong. Performance between the 2 models is virtually indistinguishable.
