ASRock 970 extreme 3 [Fan control/temp monitoring]

Hi, I recently bought the 970 extreme 3.
My setup is:
Asrock 970E3

AMD Phenom II X4 40 (unlocked 740)
[Will be replacing this with my FX 6100]

8GB DDR3 1600MHZ (g. skill)

Speedfan doesn't let me control my CPU's fan speed.
Also, the program Core Temp doesn't show my temps!

(It is plugged into CPU_FAN1. I had it on FAN2 before by accident.   )

Is it normal for the video card not to show up in amd overdrive?

Is it normal for PCIe to show up as 0.00MHZ?

My USB 3.0 onboard is not working. (I downloaded the drivers for them too, and made sure they were enabled in bios).

Also, my case fans are controlled by a controller in the back.

My mobo didn't have a USB 3.0 connector, so I can't make use of the front USB 3.0 slots either. Is there around for this?

Also, what would the optimal fan setup be for this case?
I was thinking of putting two intakes in the front, and two out-takes on the side. Although, I have heard that fans on the side aren't a good idea from a post regarding "There is such a thing as too many fans" or something like that, back in 07.

Hopefully all these questions are okay to ask, seeing as they are namely regarding the mobo (except for the case question haha)
