Im bulding system and i cant dicide on the cpu do i just stay with phenom ii x4 black or go with the phenom ii x6 vs fx 6100...what would i be gaining or lossing

Solution
go for the phenom ii x6 1090t it will perform better then the bulldozer. the bulldozer is unlock and can overclock better then phenom but after overclocking to 4.2 GHz it will compare to the phenom and if ur getting an fx 6100 dont get it go for the phenom ii x6.:)

I want to say wait for the next Bulldozer architecture revision but you are building now so if you go with an AM3+ motherboard you can use your Phenom II X4 if you want or go buy a Phenom II X6 or a version of Bulldozer. I realize this isn't really answering your question but if you don't want a FX-8150 I don't really know what to say.

In general I would recommend going forward in architecture. It was just this decision that led me to buy an I7-2600K.

get socket 1155 with 8gb ram (bought 8gb for £32, i5 2400 for £140 motherboard for £80)

£252 for way better perfomence i5

very little cost difference between amd and intel

intel is way ahead of amd in terms of cpu performance

most intel cpus may have less cores but they are more efficent and better at gaming that amd cpu's

im going to get a lot of nerd rage from amd fanboys

a dual-core sandy bridge core i3 can beat the performence of a lot of amd processors

look at the charts here

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-cpu-review-overclock,3106-5.html

a dual core intel beats all amd's processors except these FX-8150
Phenom II X4 Black Edition 980, 975

and there beaten by an i5 2300

amd = not worth getting unless you need a lot of cores but then you would have the budget for socket 2011 or would get a workstation (zenon i believe, i have no idea of code name for them)
