650-750 watt Bronze or Gold from Antec, Seasonic, Silverstone, XFX, or Corsair.

Also double check to see if your motherboard is PCIe 3.0 to take full advantage of the new card.

personally id sugest a wired keyboard and mouse for gaming. they usually die when you are in the middle of a game


a 750watt should be more than enough

reasonably quite, a lot quiter than old pc and stepdads and way quiter than a gigabyte psu (dont buy gigabyte psu, they are noisy and expensive

Stay away from raidmax, cooler master gx psu, and certain ocz psu's. Buy corsair, antec, seasonic, and xfx!

Minimum Power Supply Requirements:

For a system using a single Radeon HD 7970 graphics card AMD specifies a minimum of a 500 Watt or greater power supply. The power supply should also have a combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 36 Amps or greater and have at least one 6-pin and one 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.

For a system using two Radeon HD 7970 graphics cards in 2-way CrossFireX mode AMD specifies a minimum of an 750 Watt or greater power supply. The power supply should also have a combined +12 Volt continuous current rating of 57 Amps or greater and have at least two 6-pin and two 8-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors.


Total Power Supply Wattage is NOT the crucial factor in power supply selection!!! Total Continuous Amperage Available on the +12V Rail(s) is the most important.

Do you plan on running a 2-way CrossFireX system anytime in the future? Plan ahead so that you won't regret purchasing a power supply that is only able to handle a single Radeon HD 7970 and isn't sufficient to handle two Radeon HD 7970.

Do you want modular cabling?

Stay away from the low end series of all brands.

Get a power supply with 80 PLUS BRONZE or better efficiency.
