I'm putting together a build to replace an old AMD single core. Planning on purchasing within the next month.

I don't have a GPU at the moment since there is onboard graphics and this will be used mostly by my wife who surfs, listens to music mostly. But I want to leave myself open for graphics since my daughter is interested in graphic design but mostly uses her laptop.

I'll use it to load some SAP and development tools. Planning on Win7 Ulitmate. I'll migrate the old to a backup. I'll add a cheap optical drive to the build.

I have the keyboard, mouse and monitor (can't remember the resolution

Total 666.93 including discounts which will fluctuate.

I'd go with the AMD Llano for your build.

PSU
Corsair 500w

This will give you the ease of mind since you can put any single AMD graphics card without worry about the power supply.

Hey FinneousPJ. Thanks for the reply.

The main reason for the CPU and Mobo was for my development tools (Oracle and SAP), plus I do want the option, if my circumstances change and I start traveling less, to play some games on it. I like FPS like Call of Duty, Doom, etc. which would require the addition of a GPU.

I was thinking of a Coolermaster Centurion 5 which was my old case and worked well.

My last build was 4 or 5 years ago so I didn't want to go to cheap. This would be in the price range I would be willing to spend.

The ram you listed is fine.

He's right, you know. I'd get this since it would be cheaper. You can even play games with it since it's integrated graphics is the best in the whole world.

$400 to $420.

In the future, if you plan to game the best you can buy is the ATI 6870.

Thanks Cutebeans. I've built a list with an I3 and H67 MB and I can get it down to 400ish.

I hadn't looked at an AMD config though.

What I'm wondering is if I get the gaming bug again and want to get COD and run at high settings would all I need to get was a good GPU?
