Internet Connection Drops During Reboot

I have a desktop with Vista recently upgraded to Win 7.
I have always had Internet connection issues. It does not connect to the LAN when rebooting,a nd I have to reboot a few times for it to connect.
I have a second desktop with XP which connects to Internet through same router and it works just fine.
What is wrong here?
any tip will be greatly appreciated.
