As to stupid people who touch their monitor screens: I worked with a touch screen at work for years. (toughbook). Yes, it had a mouse, but places in the program we used required screen touch.
When I came home to my personal desktop computer, I had to work very hard a not automatically touching the monitor screen.
No chopping off my fingers, or I would be useless at work the next day.
With more and more people using smart phones and the like, the problem of dirty monitor screens will probably increase.
FYI, we were given little alcohol wipes for our work computers.

I just use water and a micro-fiber cloth on my non-touchscreen monitors and my cellphone. Many times I would just wipe my cellphone against my jeans / pants if I don't that a micro-fiber cloth or wet napkin.

As of 2009, 90%+ of all US currency tested for contamination had traces of cocaine. Don't forget things like fecal bacteria and other harmful germs.
