Motherboard for gaming

I'm building a new PC and I am looking to buy a motherboard around 150-250$. It would be running a i5 3570k so Z77 LG1155. I like asus and gigabyte but am open to anything. I will be using this PC to do mostly gaming. I'm not worried about sound performance because I have an external sound card that I use. (Audioengine D1). What would be some good options?
Thank you!

  1. As well I will most likely be overclocking, I will only be running 1 GPU maybe 2
  2. If you are looking for a board that supports overclocking and power managment you could go for the ASUS P8Z77 series. The pro version is right in your budget range.

  3. Would this be a better alternative then the Asus Maximus V Gene? I know its a smaller board but it's under their Republic of gamers line.
  4. That seems like a fine choice as well. The only real difference I can see is the sata the P8Z77 has 2 more 3GB/s, and there are also more PCI- Express ports, more open for expansion, in case you might want to go 3 way sli.
  5. Fantastic thank you so much! :)
