Hello,
i have a acer aspire i would like to use my lap top around the house without the ether cable i called bt and they shared my screen but they said they couldnt find something on the computer that you need can you help thanks shirl its an 5110/5100/3100 series

You need a wireless adapter for the laptop, or wireless router, or both. I'd be a little surprised if any modern laptop doesn't have a wireless adapter already, so I suspect they searched for a wireless router signal, didn't find one, and told you to buy a wireless router.
