Dxdiag and video memory

I have an HD 6870 with 1GB RAM. Why does dxdiag say I have 2420MB (2.4GB) of memory. ASUS M4A88t-M/USBB3, 4GB GSkill DDR3 1600. Onboard video is supposed to be disabled. Any thoughts??? Could it be because of the DDR5 video RAm???

I have 1.7Gb of video RAM in dxdiag(5770 1Gb DDR5). Use GPU-Z, download it from the internet, use Google to search for it, to display details about your video card, not dxdiag.

DxDiag is reporting the 1GB of RAM the graphics card has plus the amount of RAM Hypermemory (TurboCache for NVidia cards) being allocated.
