Hi everyone,

Looking for a little advice as I have never encountered this problem.

Computer was brought to me because it would completely power down when booting Windows (at Windows XP logo screen).

I have tried to swap out almost all components with no luck. I have switched out the video card, dvd drives, processor, hard drives, memory. The only thing I have not swapped out is the power supply and motherboard. I don't think it's the power supply because the computer will stay on with no problems in the BIOS and when formatting.

I have formatted the hard drive and am now trying to install Windows XP clean.

Now the computer shuts down on the "Installing Devices" screen of Windows XP installation.

I have disconnected all devices except for 1 dvd drive, 1 hard drive, video card, and 1 stick of memory.

Do you think this would be a sign of a bad mobo?

Thanks in advance!

Do you know what sort of motherboard it is?
What version of XP is it?
From what I've seen it does sound like the power supply (how old is it?)
Power supply usually die slowly were motherboards usually don't.
Have you got a spare power supply?
Hope this helps a bit.
