Second cpu fan

would a second fan on the cpu heatsink affect the cooling, or only the airflow? I'm considering to buy a second fan for my cooler master hyper 212 evo, and I was wondering if it was worth it.

Depending on the RPM of the fans and the actual load of the CPU you will see up to a few °C lower temperature.

A second fan is not a cheap upgrade to (much) better performance, it is just to get that little extra out of your heatsink.

I agree with LothDK. IMO the power consumption of the second fan would not be worth it for only a few degrees. What is your cpu temp at load?

you do know how much power a fan draws don't you?

im gonna say not a lot, but 2 degrees is also not much to worry about unless you're running at say 68C

well, I don't know how much it will be because I'm going to build the system

but I understand that the power consumption is not worth the cooling? My CPU cooling will be pretty good, because I am pointing the CPU cooler at the top of my case, directly on 2 120 mm fans so I guess there won't be a problem
