Artifacting and bsod on startup

I recently bought a gtx 570 twin frozr III. However I sent it in for a RMA due to artifacting and crashing. Now during startup there are checkerboard patterns and purple/red lines with an occasional BSOD. Multiple restarts are required before I am able to boot into the windows screen. The graphics card does not seem to have any problems and is fine when i play games (although it sometimes crashes and says "nvidia driver has stopped working and recovered...") Any solutions to this problem?

Most likely a driver issue.

Have you tried using Driversweeper and then updating your drivers to the most recent ones from Nvidia's site?

Check your PCI-e connector and make sure your power supply is sufficient for that card.

Have you tried swapping out your power supply for a different one?

i have checked the power supply (850 watts) and the PCIe connector and those seem to be fine. I also checked with my old 8800gt and no artifacting appeared. possible that i just get a bad 570?
