Hey guys, not sure if right section. But please help.
My specs are:
8gigs ddr3 2133 speed
(more info if needed)
My problem is:
When playing a game, for example WoW, I will randomly see huge lag spikes. I'll be playing at 20-30ms, then for 3-5 seconds my character and everyone around me will run in place then snap out of it. It makes dueling or doing anything that requires timing impossible when that happens it really screws me up. What's up with that? My internet speed is 25mbps and my gear is good.
Lag spikes could be caused by your internet connection or the internet connection of the people around you on the server. Do you connect to the same server all the time or do you try different ones and have the same problem ?
As for the speed of your net connection that doesn't really make a difference PING is more about contention ratio and distance to the server than bandwidth. I used to play tons of FPS games online on a 512k connection.
Just looking at your spec I think you can rule out your graphics card and cpu as the problem, and it definitely not a lack of memory.
A/V software isn't doing some weird random scanning while you're playing is it cos that could cause sudden slow down.
I'm personally leaning towards, laggy people around you on the server causing spikes (likely), or A/V software trying to do a HDD scan while you're playing (possible), or HDD failing (highly unlikely, as you would have seen more symptoms of this rather than just in WoW).
