About the CPU - ridiculous question

hello,
my question is simply : what is the difference between a Core 2 Duo - and an i3 - an i5 ..etc
how the speed of an i3 CPU is calculated ? .


and i found once a height price computer have a "core 2 duo" and another computer with "i3" have a lower price ! why ? (the other performance was almost the same).

Speed = performance = how fast work gets done.
And it's not directly related to the operating frequency of the CPU (the Ghz stuff).

Price differences happen for many reasons.
Not enough info provided to answer the 'why?' part of your question.
