Hi I am seeking advice on building a SFF computer using Ubuntu 10.4 OS. I will be using this computer for web surfing, social networking, email, word processing, spreadsheets, photo editing, and light gaming. I am looking to build cheep if I can. Under $500.00, but prefer Under $300.00 if possible. Please help with suggestions. Thanks.

SILVERSTONE Sugo Series SG06-B with 300 watt power supply $120

Intel Pentium G620 Sandy Bridge 2.6GHz $73

GIGABYTE GA-H61N-USB3 LGA 1155 Intel H61 $80

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) $26

Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST3500413AS 500GB $45

DVD drive $20 . Check if it hasto be half height .

You also need windows . Win7 64 bit oem is $99 if you dont have it already .

Options . Use a 2 x4 gig kit of ram . Unlikely you will need it but since you cant add more without discarding the kit I have included its worth considering .
There are far cheaper cases . That one is very high quality and so is the power supply .
I hope you have small fingers

As long as you don't need a graphics card and are using one HD . . .

Cooler Master RC-100-KKP3-GP Elite 100 Mini-ITX with 150W Case (Black) $70

GIGABYTE GA-H61N-USB3 LGA 1155 Intel H61 HDMI USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard $80

SAMSUNG 8X Slim Internal DVD Burner, OEM Package Without Software 8X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 8X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 8X DVD-ROM 24X CD-R 4X CD-RW 24X CD-ROM Black SATA Model SN-208BB - OEM $21

Saves $49. I've used one and they are tiny. They look great, run cool, and can even be attached to the back of some monitors to create an "all-in-one". To be fair, there have been some reports of developing noisy psu fans. But this probably shows the range of savings and the risks associated.

And As Outlander said, I hope you have small fingers.

I guess Intel is the way to go, huh? What do you think about Shuttles boxes?

shuttle are over priced IMO

The Silverstone case I listed above is a very similar form factor but uses standard m-ITX parts rather than shuttles proprietary motherboards
The quality is superb. Comes in silver or black .
