Phenom 555 overclock ??

My phenom 555 runs at 3.4 ghz with stock cooler,so does that mean that it performs identically as phenom 565 which is 3.4 ghz at stock ???

Yes. The Phenom II X2 555 Black Edition is a lower clocked Phenom II X2 965 BE. Every 'click' you can take the multiplier up to, will move it to the next Phenom II X2 5xx level. Moreover, if you manage to unlock the two dormant cores, you will have the same processor as the Phenom II X4 in that catagory, extra cache included. Just replace the first digit (5) with a (9). I had a Phenom II X2 555 BE that I was able to unlock to a Phenom II X4 955. Increasing the multiplier took it to a Phenom II X4 975 3.7 GHZ. Anything more, and I began having stability problems.
