What is actually the difference between USB 2.0 and 3.0? I tried copying a file to a flash device and used stopwatch and both of them were nearly the same, 3.0 being just 2 secs faster. Is there something wrong or is it normal? I copied a 500mb file and 2.0 did it in 1:52 min while 3.0 did it in 1:50

Is the USB flash drive you were using USB3? USB3 is much faster -- but both ends of the transfer need to support it! If this is a "standard" thumb drive not marked as USB3 it's probably USB2. USB3 ports are backwards-compatible but will run USB2 devices at USB2 speeds.

Ok that's completely stupid. The whole point of the 3.0 then was to get rich dudes to buy more expensive 3.0 devices and only get the benefit of a lower transfer timing.
