I'm having a hard time updating the bios of a Shuttle MV43VN 7.3 AMI bios motherboard and get a P4 work with 2x 256MB RAM.

I had a Intel Celeron 2.6 running on this motherboard with both ram working fine. But now that I upgraded to Intel Pentium 4 and had to change the jumpers to set FSB up to 533MHz the system wont boot up. It does only with 1 256 400mhz PC3200 RAM.

Here it shows that I need to use AFUDOS with a Windows 98 bootable USB flash. But at the top in the tutorial link I get a software that created a Windows Millenium bootable flash. And at the Shuttle archives for my motherboard it dosen't give me a AFUDOS.. but it gives me Aminf335.

Please I need some help to update the bios.
I want to update to the latest bios (mv43v007.zip). The reason for updating is to get a Pentium4 2.8 to work fine with two PC3200 400mhz 256 DDR1 RAM... atleast I hope.

THIS IS WHAT I TRIED:

If I type only AMINF335 this shows up

If I type AMINF335 MV43V007.ROM /P /B /N /C /X this shows up

If I type AFUDOS MV43V007.ROM /P /B /N /C /X I get this. (by the way bios.rom and MV43V007.rom are the same)

MOBO: Shuttle MV43VN 7.3 AMI bios
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 (before Intel Celeron 2.6)
RAM: 2x 256MB 400mhz PC3200 DDR1
GPU: ATI 9200 128MB
HDD: MAXTOR 40GB
FDD: SONY MPF920-E

All components are from 2000-2002

YOU SIR ARE A ******* GENIUS.. man I never even tried. I kept bothering with other stuff
Now it flashed but it says CMOS/GPNV Checksum Bad

Press F1 to Run SETUP
Press F2 to load default values and continue

Good now its updated.. Damn sometimes I'm so near the truth xD. Okay now I hope with this latest update Intel Pentium 4 2.8 on FSB533 with two 256MB 400mhz PC3200 DDR1 ram will work. I will edit this message if it does work or if it dosent :).. Thanks for your help szaboaz.

Yeah the BIOS history dosen't mention any update or fix for the memory... sadly :( . But I hope it will work.
I did a fast reading on the manual but nothing brilliant was said. Tho about the FSB increase I might think that RAM are being overclocked or they are underclocked for safity and at times it dosent boot up and at times it does. I might change the timings from 2.0 to 2.5 so if it does overclock the RAM it will maybe work this way. But well I'm kinda stupid so what would I know.

UPDATE

Now I have both 256MB 400mhz PC3200 DDR1 RAM inside and they both work at 2.5-3-3-6 ... For now this is still normal. Yesterday It worked like this but today morning when I turned on the computer it didn't want to boot. So I need to completely turn off the PC and after some minutes turn it back on and see if it will still work.

I see.

Sadly, I don't know too much about memory and clock settings/timings, but setting them to something conservative, or leaving it on default/auto if possible, seems like a good idea.
