i have a p5kpl/amps motherboard perhaps it is ddr2 but i want to buy a new graphics card under $150 my primary choices are GTS 250,GTX 260 and GTS 450 but as per the specification of those cards they are all DDR3 or GDDR3 or GDDR5.so i consulted with some dealers about that but they told me that i have to replace a DDR3 motherboard over my DDR2,but my budget is very low i can't afford another motherboard it is possible that i can use a graphics card from above and also i want to run witcher 2 and crysis 2 in very high settings so please kindly help me in this matter......

The memory in the video card (DDR3, GDDR3 or GDDR5) wouldn't conflict with the fact that you have DDR2 RAM installed. Dunno if you'll get Crysis 2 to run on very high settings with that budget though.

The memory has nothing to do with the graphics card...you should be fine. Try aiming for the GTX460 its around $175 and you will be close to maxing out Crysis 2.

so are u suggesting that i can run those graphics cards on my motherboard without changing my ram to DDR 3 ? coz as i know if u change a DDR 2 ram to DDR 3 then u change your motherboard also. It's very complicated process i only want to change my graphics card not my entire system.
Is gtx 460 is compatible with my motherboard ?
OMG it's very confusing to me please help

The memory on a graphics card is not dependent on your motherboard. all a graphics card needs is a PCI-E Slot And Some cards need external power(PCI_E 6-Pin),The Connectors for the power come with the card.
I am using 2GB DDR2 Ram, and using an ATi 6750 DDR5, No Probs At all.. :D
Earlier i use a 9500GT DDR3, then upgraded to this.

These shop keepers are just trying to make you buy more things. don't fall for that please.. :)

yeah, whoever is telling you the mobo has to be compatible with the ram on the video card is either retarded, or trying to get you to buy it from him and get your money

hey guys i think i have 450w-500w power supply perhaps i can run it now
but one thing guess if i have only power supply less than 450w then can i run the graphics card on it ?what should i do to solve this problem ?
hey i just check the specifications of 550 ti, gts 450 and gtx 460 they are showing maximum power draw is 116w,106w,160w respectively and recommended PSU is 400w,400w and 450w respectively. I guess it is very good for my system and i just search some sites randomly and i found that nvidia decreases gtx 550 ti's price to $149 ,which is in my budget, is it true ?

Lol, the UPS has nothing to do with the power of a computer. could u just open ur case and look at the side of the PSU, den post its make and model here.
there should also be a table of some sort with Ampere values against 3.3V,5.5V,+12V etc. post it too.
