Unfortunately I have a tight budget for a gaming rig. Have all the other stuff figured out except Mobo and CPU.

My question is, would I be better off getting an i5 2500k+50 dollar mobo or an i3 2100+100 dollar plus mobo and upgrade to the 2500k later.

Will the i3 work fine at 1366x768 for games until I can upgrade?

Yes, actually do this. i3-2100, asrock z68 extreme 3 gen 3, then in april upgrade to the i5-3570k.

Your better off build an AMD fusion based system, since this will be a gaming build.

Hehe, forgot about the upcoming CPU's. Another thought to think about. Okay thanks, I have heard that the i3 does well with games, just making sure.

I really was going to go for AMD build, but the more benchtests that I see the more I want to go Intel. Since I will be doing games. AMD would be nice if this was my work computer. Thanks for the thought though.
