Sli on evga x58 sli 3 MB

Hello,
im thinking of upgrading to 2 evga gtx560 ti's but on my motherboard it shouws that the first pci-e slot is 16x and the other 2 are only 8x.. so if i sli that means that both my cards will be running at 8x pci-e, is it still worth it?

  1. My GTX560's run at x8 + x8 and they still blow a single GTX580 so far into the weeds it's not funny.

Sorry don't mean to hijack, but I kinda wondered about getting another one myself, thanks.

So long as we stay on topic and (hopefully) help the OP out I'll let it go. ;)
  4. :kaola: That's really sweet! I know this might sound insane, but I currently have a radeon hd6970 that I'm not very impressed with. I mean sure it puts up big(ger) numbers on benchmarking programs but the cooling fan drives me nuts. If I set it to automatic it'll get to over 90 degrees and if I set the fan to 40% it'll get louder than all the other 10 or so fans in my case. So I wouldn't mind getting 1 or 2 gtx560 sc's. Or am I off my rocker :p
  5. The fans on my GTX560's are quite audible when they are under load but I don't know if they are any louder than that 6970.
  6. You're right! The evga 560ti fan doesn't get any louder than my 6970 fan at between 55-60% haha. Plus the ati automatic fan control program isn't setup as good as the 560 in this case. At 90 degrees the fan is still idling at around 40%.
  7. Anyways I'm getting off topic. Thank you for your help! I appreciate it!
