HOW TO IDENTIFY A TYPE OF A RAM PHYSICALLY

Welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums,
Barring any identifying lables on the module itself, you can search the numbers listed on the individual IC chips. That may not get you too far but you should be able to gleen size and generation (PC100, DDR2, DDR3, etc.)
If the ram is already installed in a computer, running a program like Speccy should tell you all the information about your ram.
