Will a 775, am2/am3 backward compatible psu run a am3+ motherboard

Hi, I provbably gone about this all wrong, but I have purchased a 550W psu and it says it's for 775, AM2/AM3 and backward compatible cpu's. the motherboard bundle I was about to purchase has a AM3+FX6100 3.3ghz cpu. Will this all be compatible.
