Hello,
can a video card fry in power surge? Recently had a power surge and computer would boot up and monitor worked but now monitor is black and computer lights work and sounds like booting up but no video....?

Yup anything can happen with a power surge. A quality power supply can better protect your hardware but is not perfect. The best is to have your computer plugged to a surge protection unit.

If you wanna know if it's booting in Windows, let it boot then when the hard disk is done working, do press the power button (not reset heh). If it was indeed in Windows, it should start to work again and shutdown about a minute after you pressed the switch.

If you're lucky enough and that applies to you, then you only need to change the graphic card to make it work again. Hope it is just the graphic card. Good luck ^-^
