Hey guys,
So this is what ive got. An ancient gate way pc. however i have two Nvidia Geforce 8800gt graphics cards. Im wanting to get a new case, processor, mother board and more ram than i currently have. I plan on getting a mid to low-end i7 processor. however first i need a better mother board that has dual graphics slots and a case that will go with it (if a new one is needed). also i have a 500watt power supply. will that work or would i need a bigger one?

What do you have in mind for this system? Crossfiring and SLI'ing is a pain to say the least. There will be always be driver issues for a lot of games. A single 680 would be at least 3x times faster that those old 88's. I'd get:

Intel i7 3770 (non-K)
Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600MHz CAS 9
Gigabyte H77M-D3H
Asus 680 or 670 if you want to save cash
HAF XM
Given the age of your PSU, I'd also gate a Corsair TX 650 v2.

im on a limited budget so unless i could get a 680 for what i could sell the 8800s for (which i highly doubt) it would be a no go. it wouldnt be use for any hardcore gaming. just casual games. Mainly Arma 2 and Day-z. Possibly crysis 2.

Those games are not casual. For your budget downsize the CPU to a 3470, keep the motherboard and get a 7870 or 7950 if you can squeeze it in.
