Low Fps

I recentley upgraded my hd 4350 to a Hd 6850. Playind call of duty black ops on my previous grpahics card i got a steady 17-18 fps. now with my new graphics card one moment i get 50 fps then suddenly it drops to 9 fps this goes on and on. Why do i get a sudden decrease of Fps ? one can never play this game like this..

Core 2 Duo 2.93 GHZ
2 gb ddr 2
Xfx hd 6850 black edition
cooler master 500w extreme power plus

Possibly a memory bottleneck.

I don't think its a bottleneck, i get 30 - 40 fps for black ops with my current setup.
C2D @ 2.6 Ghz, ATi 6750, 2G DDR2!

You are also only running at 1280 x 1024...

My best guess is also a memory bottleneck, that is why it runs great for a few seconds until the mem allocation fills up, then drops massively while it clears the cache, works until it is full, and rinse and repeat.

the 6850 is a heavy hitting card, but you need the processor and ram to be able to keep up with it.

CPU may also be a bottleneck here. Overclock it. Your RAM too isn't enough. Get another stick of RAM and make it a total of 4GB, that is, if you're running a 64 bit version of the OS.

yeah but you dont know what else is hogging his mem......his process tree could be a mile long for all we know.......

its a cheap upgrade.....but start with the free one and re install your drivers (after uninstalling of corse)

and then toss in another dimmstick
