Hey guys I'm a first time PC builder and I really need some help.
Will this processer:

AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 2.8GHz 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 Retail Boxed Processor

Run on this motherboard:


Asus M5A78L-M LX Motherboard (Micro ATX, Socket AM3+, 5200MT/S, DDR3, Core Unlocker)

I also do not recommend Asus mobos based on my 20 years of building high end PCs because they tend to be RAM sensitive and less reliable IME than Gigabyte mobos. Depending on your needs Gigabyte has a complete selection of AM3+ mobos that will run your 1100T and the next gen Zambezi CPUs without issue.

What do you mean by RAM sensitive?

Asus is a top-tier motherboard maker. As long as you select memory from their QVL list you should be fine.

It would be advised, however, to spend another $20 or so on an AM3+ motherboard with better PWM and 125w CPU support --- like the MSI 970A-G45, Giga-Byte GA-880GMA-USB3 or the Asus M5A97.

If you plan to game, there is no reason why you should get a Phenom II x6. There is no difference between 4 and 6 cores in gaming.
