Hello :hello: , I`m going to build new High-End Gaming System this Christmas, I want to play games like (Skyrim moded, WitcherII, BF3, Assasin`s Creed 3, GTAV) at 1920x1080 3D Screen.
I have two hardware configuration options that differ only in motherboard and gpu. 1st configuration use MSI z77 Mpower + GTX 680 Lightning 2GB, 2nd config. use Asus Maximus V Formula + HD 7970 Matrix Platinum 3GB, probably I will add another GPU for next year.
I'm gonna overclock my system a little using Auto OC Bios Programs.

My other system components (same hardware is used in 1st and 2nd config):
i7-3770K OC to 4.2 - 4.4GHz
G.Skill Sniper 8GB 1866MHz
Corsair TX 850W
Cooler Master V6GT CPU cooler
CM Storm Trooper
Caviar Black 500GB
OCZ Vertex 3 128GB SSD

What`s the best config for hardcore gaming ? I had seen in review that 7970 Matrix OC was better then 680 Lightning OC.

For me the best choice is the asus MATRIX 7970 Platinium, and with the games they offer it is a great deal, this is the best single GPU available...and this is even bether than gtx 680 with the new drivers 12.11

If 3D is a must, go with the GTX 680. Nvidia 3D support is much more refined than AMD. If 3D is not a must, the Asus 7970 Platinum Matrix is the way to go.

Also, since you want to invest in a high end gaming machine, you need a better monitor that supports 2560 1440 resolution such as Asus PB278Q or Dell U2713HM or the ultimate Samsung S27B970D. Gaming at 2560 1440 resolution is much better than gaming at 1080p.
