Upgrading ram

hey guys, I currently have 3 sticks (3x2gb) in my x58 triple channel, since I have 3 more slots left, can I fill them with any 3x ram or must it match my existing 3 sticks? As long as they are DDR3 they should be okay or must they be exactly the same?

It's recommended to install a similar kit. If not using memory demanding applications, 6 GB are enough for all games. The system's performance will not increase by installing more memory.
