Looking to make sure this ram is compatible.

Without knowing his system it is hard to tell but it is likely that it will work. If you are looking to speed up his system there is little benefit from just increasing ram speed.

It's a dell, about 2 years old. It has a dual core processor running at about 2.4 ghz with 2gb ram currently. Not sure of the exact model number of the computer, but those are a rough estimate of the specs. We were looking at getting him the 8 gigs of ram and upgrading his os from 32 bit to 64 bit windows. Last christmas we got him a graphics card, and thought that ram would be next logical step in improving his gaming capabilities.
