I'm just in the process of building a PC (my first time) and I'm using a Supermicro case and PSU (SC760). Thing is, I've got the board in, CPU, RAM and fans installed and connected, but when I connect the power to the PSU nothing happens.
There's no on/off switch on this PSU but I seem to recall that with my last PC (which had the same box) the fan in the PSU used to come on briefly whenever power was connected. Does the fact that the fan is not coming on mean that the PSU is faulty? Or could it simply mean that there is a short somewhere, or that the front panel connections are incorrect?
I gues what I'm asking is "what's the easiest way to test that the power supply is ok?".
