I purchased a EVGA 550 TI 2GB. I like the performance but I was wondering if 560 TI is going to be a better choice in the long run.

The last time I really was into PC gaming mice had balls...so the amount ram in a video card means little? I don't need resolutions over 1900 x 1080 now.

I've been a console gamer for so long I have lost complete touch with the PC gaming scene. I have spent hours scouring the pc scene but it has been so long I don't understand the chipsets by number and performance. It doesn't seem so long ago that I reluctantly trashed my voodo 2.

Where do I find the mark between over buying power and under buying. The 550 provides enough that I can see what I have been missing with console gaming over the last few years but I know it is not enough for what comes out now and going forward.

The amount of video RaM is important only in that you need 'enough' framebuffer size for the given resolution and textures/details to be processed/displayed and levels of AA/AF to be processed; having more Vram than needed does not make the card faster at a given resolution. The 550Ti has fewer CUDA cores and a crippled memory bus relative to even the older GTX460(768mb) cards.

(Generally speaking, 1 gb is 'enough' at 1080P, and 1.5 gb is usually enough for 2560x1600, with 2gb nice for 3 monitor gaming with effective 5700x1080 res)

The 560Ti and 6950 both offer very good performance for their $200/$220 pricepoints...
