Computer won't shut down/sleep after installing USB 3.0 Host Card

November 24, 2012 6:55:14 PM

Hi - after installing a USB 3.0 host card (UGT-PC341), on my desktop with Windows 8, the computer won't shut down or sleep anymore. When I shut down or sleep, it properly exits out of Windows, and then just as the power is about to go off, all the fans and parts start up again and the computer restarts.

I have the latest drivers installed, but it doesn't seem to work either. I installed a more powerful PSU (850W), so there's enough power going to it. I also ensured all cables, parts, etc. are tightly fastened and connected to the motherboard

I checked Event Viewer and see this:
"The system firmware has changed the processor's memory type range registers (MTRRs) across a sleep state transition (S4). This can result in reduced resume performance."
Source: Kernel-Power
Event ID: 137

I have no idea what it can be. Am I doing something wrong? Has anyone else had this issue and been able to fix it?
