Hello, I have been without a desktop for quite some time but would like to build a new rig in preparation for BF3. Although I was planning to build new, I can purchase the system listed below for a pretty nice discount (4 months old) but I am interested in hearing some feedback on the components. Thanks for your help.

If I purchase this, I might add a second 570 to use in SLI and an SSD for the OS and BF3. The savings in comparison to new would almost pay for the second 570.

Intel i5 2500k@3.3ghz http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX31557(ME).aspx
Asus P8P67 Delux http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX32593(ME).aspx
EVGA 570GTX http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX31387(ME).aspx
8GB Kingston HyperX@1333mhz http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX29627(ME).aspx
Corsair tx850w http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX32589(ME).aspx
1TB Wester Digital@7200rpm (not sure specifically which one)
Asus 24x DVD-RW http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX27707(ME).aspx
Cooler Master HAF 922 http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX24755(ME).aspx

Yes this is definatly a BF3 gaming rig and would be even better with adding the second 570 and a SSD. I would go through with this deal for sure. If you add the second 570 and the SSD then you would have a rig that would last for quite some time before having to upgrade.

You forgot to mention what resolution you are running at. If it's 1080p or lower you wont see much improvement in SLI. I'd save the money for an upgrade down the road. If you've got a 30", though, that's a different matter....

I would ditch the 570 x 2 for a 560 x 3 setup for the same price if you can if not the n 570 x 2 is also good. IF you are into online gaming and/or LAN parties then also get a higher end networking card which supports you offloading the entire network stack to it thus not having to worry about your network chip performance messing up the rest of the machine which happens with network play with any and all network capable programs. for the SSD um the main reason for it is to get the game onto a different storage drive then the OS so get another storage drive HDD or SSD your choice if SSD go with a PCI-express SSD as it is faster by alot. the only major difference between the i7-2600K and teh i5-2500K is 100MHz and hyperthreading.

Great input every - thanks.

I don't think the 560 is an option since the 570 is already in the machine... maybe I will stick with the single 570 until I feel the need for an upgrade.

I haven't purchased a monitor yet so it was an intentional ommission. I will probably go for a nice 23" display, possibly 27". I am open to suggestions on that as well.

That old school 1.7v kingston RAM you have up there isn't meant for these 1155 boards and it could very well mess up your controller. Low voltage RAM is what's recommended for these 1155 boards as in 1.5v or less.

Why_me
Thanks for pointing that out. I haven't actually seen the rig yet so I am wondering if this replacing the RAM would fix the issue or is there is a potential that it could have damaged the mobo or something else?
