Double click more than once to open anything

I just reinstalled Windows on a new drive. I am running Windows XP service pack 3. I ran all the updates.

Ever since I installed Windows (initially installed XP service pack 2), I usually have to double click more than once - usually twice - to open anything or run anything.

What is causing this and how do I fix it?

Check your Mouse Settings in Control Panel.

Adjust the double click speed slider. You can test your setting by clickg the folder icon just to the right. Test all you want til you find the setting thats right for you then click on apply then ok.
