Dell XPS 8300

Hello,

I just purchased a XPS 8300, it comes with a 460w power supply and i want to upgrade it so I can run a better video card. What type of power supply should I be looking for?

This is what the dell rep told me: "One 24-pin EPS 12V connector (ATX Compatible)".

An ATXV12? I am looking to install a AMD Radeon HD 6950.

AMD recommends a 500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express connectors.

Your 460 watt / 32 amp Dell psu with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors is easily the equivalent of AMD's " 500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors " ( there are plenty of crap quality 500 watt psu's with dual 6 pin connectors that can't match the Dell 460 but meet the " reccomendation" )

A psu upgrade is certainly not a bad thing, just isn't a necessity to run a 6950
