Hi. My motherboard is a Asus M3A78-CM. I currently have a AMD Athlon II X4 630, which I have been looking to upgrade to a AMD FX-4100 Zambezi 3.6GHz. Will this be compatible? It said the motherboard supports AM2+...? Any info would be great.

Thanks.

your cpu support list does not show support for the am3+ FX series, however it does support all am3 cpus

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_AM2Plus/M3A78CM/#C...

the fastest cpu you can support is the 1090t

although compared to the x4 630 you will see no improvement if you upgrade to the 4100

list your specs and i will tell you if you even need to modify your current config

nice mid range rig you got there,

if you want more gaming performance you can go for a x4 965 and a 570/580 once you have a good enough PSU,

or if you are unsatisfied with your screen real estate, you can go for a bigger monitor,

i would more lean toward an upgrade to a ssd/hybrid drive... this will not increase fps, but loading times will be much shorter
