my mothers pc im trying to fix


ok so when i start the pc i get this message the application failed to initialize properly 0xc0000142





its a dell 410 desktop with xp

Boot into safe mode and try to indentify which app failed.

you mean it fails to boot?

she should try hitting F8 key repeatedly while it boots to see if she can start in safemode

Does it let you click on OK to terminate the application? The problem is a corrupted or missing file. Trick is to find out which one. Simply reinstalling the errant program may fix it.
