Hi,

I currently game on an old HP Pavilion with:

Core 2Quad9300 locked at 2.5Ghz
8Gb Ram
GTX460 (purchased last year)

I do alot of gaming, currently play SCII, Witcher 2 (runs at 25-30fps ok, not when I turn 3D on though)...etc. I am looking to play BF3, Skyrim, DIII and the like. I would like to be able to do so in 3D, my current system cant quite run 3D well at the moment. Have an Acer24" 120Hz monitor running at 1920x1080.

I am trying to hold out to purchase a new computer around April 2012, but I am getting kind of anxious waiting. Would it be advisable to upgrade to a 2500k/2600k with GTX580..etc...etc, wait for the i7-3930k (is this the 2011 chipset?), or wait for the next set of CPUs to be put out in 2012 (Ivy bridge?, is this still the 1155 chipset?)?

Also will the next gen of CPUs in 2013 (haswell?) use any of the existing 1155/2011 architecture, or will the newer and smaller CPUs use a completely new chipset?

Sorry about my lack of knowledge... but im new
