Hi,

My wife is currently looking to upgrade her motherboard to increase performance as she does a lot of video editing and graphical work. looking around to make sure i found a compatible motherboard i stumbled across a confusing situation with PCI-E slots.

This is my wife's GPU: (AMD Radeon HD 6870) http://tinyurl.com/6awy3k8

And this is the motherboard i was looking at: http://tinyurl.com/co8rp58

The question i have is will they be compatible? the GPU says it requires a PCI Express 2.1 x16 bus interface and the MOBO is listed as having 1 PCI Express 2.0 x16 (@x4)

Does this mean it will not run at max speed? or does this only apply if i installed a second PCI-E 3.0 card?

Thanks in advance.

You have 2 pcie 3.0 slots single x16 ou dual x8 x8.
Put the card in one of the pcie 3.0 slots, it will work fine and at full speed just don't put it in 2.0 x4 cause like it says it will run at x4 which will be degrading the performance vs x16.
