-photo editing (using Photoshop CS5)
-audio processing and server (24-bit audio, transmitting over 2.4GHz to Sony media server in Living Room)
-video streaming (hi rez blu-ray to Sony)

Parts Preferences: Intel; Full Tower. Thinking a multi-socket motherboard, with either quad core or 6-core processors. Prefer to have support for USB 3.0, SATA 3.0, PCIe, can handle at least 6 1TB drives, at least 32 GB of ram, support for solid state disc drives, and can run windows 7(64-bit OS).

Overclocking: No

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

One of my interests is looking at SSD drives is to move away from mechanical ones, and hence the need to have to mirror with a second drive.

Any assistance available? Opinions/advice? And yes I know it's a quite an expensive rig; but that was the cap provided to me by the person that asked for my assistance, but his specs are a bit out of my normal build range so I thought I would ask around.

You pick the case and PSU..

Get the PCI express enterprise SSD. They are very reliable and extremely fast.. hense the price..

I also picked Seagates Constellation ES drives because i have past experience with them. They are very fast mechanical drivers and they never fail.. *knock on wood*
