Lack of Power?

Hi I bought myself some new components a couple of months ago, namely a Core I7 2.6k, a Strawberry Mountain intel OEM mainboard, 8 ghz 1333 mhz ddr 3 memory. and a Nvidia gaming case.

My old components were my 24 inch LED Samsung, Logitech mouse/keyboard. and a 450 watt PSU. and a xi-fi sound card. HD4870 ati

at first when I got the pc, it refused to detect my internet, after messing around with it for quite a while, running my adsl through my Linksys hub (meant for hosting LAN's) it detected and everything was fine.

After my FIRST installation of windows 7, my pc rebooted out of its own. (wasnt actually supposed to)
I thought I might have been mistaken or somethings so I let it slide.

INGAME (namely Starcraft 2) my pc never reboots, but when I youtube or download or leave my pc idle throughout the night, it reboots. (it makes some static noises through the speakers and then reboots)

I even removed my X-fi bcoz of this, it didnt work..

I bought myslelf a 650watt PSU today, and guess what happened? My pc rebooted in youtube.

Is my PSU still too low? or is something just wrong and I have to send my pc back to these people I feel like calling idiots for ordering the wrong *** and scratching my case on two different occasions?

The static noise thing. Yes. It's the PSU and there's no doubt about it.

What exactly is in your system?

My PSU runs mine without a graphics card no problems, but with any type of GPU inside it, problems occur hugely.

Brands like OCZ, Seasonic, Antec, Corsair and Mushkin are usually the ones to go for, the one you've stated is just as unknown as mine and is generally just an OEM power supply with a name slapped on the side, they're never ever reliable.

It's a joke that anyone's allowed to do this in the current world, but they are, and they do.

Seriously. A branded PSU is the way forward. It's gonna cost you about 60 bucks, but it'll enhance your system.

What have you got in it? PSU, GPU, RAM, mobo, HDD, drives etc etc?

The last time I had those symptoms was on a new build for a client. It was also an Intel motherboard. The system would randomly and erratically reboot. I assumed it was the cheap PSU (that I really shouldn't have used in the build). So I put a quality one in and got the same erratic reboots. It might run 12 hours without rebooting or reboot twice in 5 minutes. It was very upsetting to my client. After breaking it down on the bench I found the motherboard to be the culprit and stopped using Intel mobos (having had too many bad experiences already). I'm not going to badmouth them anymore this week, but it was a headache. With your components it just doesn't seem to me that you are overtaxing even a cheap 700w. Is your system overclocked at all? Checked BIOS settings for anything aggressive? RAM timings, etc?

No overclocks at all, besides the built in speedstep. I am not a fan either. In fact I asked for 8gig 1600mhz memory, and they without my aproval got me 1333 instead. ( I asked for any mainboard that suits the cpu/ ram combo)

They got this bcoz they are intel supporters, and they cant get 1600mhz intel, little do they know im over them.

Ill hand in my hardware to these self proclaimed proffesionals, but beware if I find a single scratch on my case.

They will prolly loiter about with it for a week, ill get it back, theyll say its 'fixed', it wont be, and ill send it in again.

Im really really agitated at the moment. I have to use these people bcoz of warranty, the other company never even came back with a responce when I placed my order for my parts, cant wait to tell the owner who I actually know. (its a small town)

Yea it is. I have a core I7 2600k 3.4 gig sandybridge (3.8 on speedstep)
OEM mobo (intel strawberry mountain -cheap / lame mobo)
8 gig 1333 mhz ram (kingston)
hd 4870 ati graphics card.
650 watt huntkey psu.
a nice little x-fi soundblaster (which is not even in atm bcoz of power theory)
a logitech g500 (I think) mouse, and standard usb logitech keyboard.
2 regular sized fans and one big ass one in front, on little smaller than big ass on top.
3 sata hdd's, seagate or something, im really unsure.

No OC's on anything. I can try upload some data on my PSU in a sec.

Yea I think thats the only power consumption components I have.
