$1200 Gaming Rig

Looking to put together a gaming rig for SC2 for roughly $12000.

I was thinking like I5 2500 with a SSD for boot or SRT and a GTX 260.

Anyone have any advice or know any good bundles on Newegg?

hello friend, you should fill this form up so that we can help you better. It would be helpful for you. Do you only plan to play SC2?
  3. are you kidding me? a GTX260 with this budget? no way!

    i5 2500k: $220

    Z68 GEN 3 Mobo: $145

MSI Twin Frozer II GTX560: $200

    Cooler Master HAF 932: $140

8GB (2x4) 1333 RAM, cheapest of GSkill, Crucial, or Kingston: $55

    7200RPM HDD 1Tb: $85

    Antec 620W Gaming Series: $85

    Win7 64: $100

    ASUS 21" Monitor: $95

Mouse/Keyboard/speaker combo "G": $15 (cheap, but you can upgrade later)

    CD/DVD burner: $20

    HYPER 212+ EVO: $35

    Total APPR> $1195
  4. Not to be snobby but a 21 inch monitor is tiny.
Don't get a HAF 932 get a Corsair Carbide 400R and theen upgrae to a 560ti. If you decide to go gor the Ti get a 650 watt psu as it will allow for mild overclocking (if you really want to OC get a 750 watter)
  5. A 650W is fine for any OC on that gpu. Max power for standard speeds is 170W. an OC wouldnt surpass 200W by much if at all.

Carbide 400R is ok, but it does not have the air flow the HAF series have.

a 21" Monitor is not tiny, so yes, you are snobby. sorry...lol

Reason for the GTX560, its OC'able to the same speeds as the Ti. The only difference besides the $60 price difference is that it comes factory OC'd, not manual. You dont need to do that.
  6. The HD 6850 listed below will play SC2 with "ultra" settings. If you need more horsepower later, you can always add another 6850 as the motherboard and power supply will both support this.

    CPU: Intel Core i5-2500k

    Motherboard: ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3

CPU Cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO

    RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance Low Profile DDR3 1600 C9

    GPU: Sapphire HD 6850
    $139.99 ($15 MIR available)

    SSD: 64GB Crucial M4

    HDD: 500GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.12

Optical: Sony Optiarc 24x DVD Burner w/ Lightsribe

PSU: XFX Core Edition PRO650W 80 PLUS Bronze

    Case: NZXT M59

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

Monitor: HANNspree Black 21.5" 5ms Full HD WideScreen LCD Monitor w/Speakers

    Keyboard: Microsoft SideWinder X6
    Mouse: Microsoft SideWinder X3

    TOTAL: $1194.86 before tax/shipping/rebate(s)

EDIT: If you don't need the last few items (OS, monitor, keyboard and mouse), get the 128GB version of the M4 and/or upgrade the HD 6850 to an HD 6950 (Sapphire Toxic 2GB if you can).
