I few months ago I had the following message " driver stopped responding and has recovered amd " this happened about a least 10 times over a period of 6 months. then it stop for quite awhile.

Then I decided to upgrade my monitor a brought a new one. which I am happy with.

Then when browsing the web one day the monitor just turn off randomly but the base unit continued as normal. I had to turn on the monitor back on and it resumed where i left off in browsing. This has happened 4 times since.

I thought it was a CPU problem but I used the "Intel diagnostic processor tool"(i have Intel core i5 processor) but it passed its checks with good results. I also re-paste the chip with cooling paste again to make sure.
So I can def rule out CPU !
Very unlikely to be a monitor problem when its brand new ??

I think its a video card problem ! But not certain .?
So any ideas on this guys ? help will be appreciated. :)

I believe I am experiencing a similar problem. So you could be doing anything, surfing, typing, playing a game and the computer monitor just goes to sleep? because that happens to me as well. I can wake up the monitor by moving my mouse but sometimes, seconds later itll go to sleep. it started happening when i plugged a new monitor in but i switched to my old one and its happening still. i also put the power settings to never. I have seen a few posts with the problem now so i wonder what it is, i have narrowed it down to either the video card being defective (i have a sapphire hd 6970), mobo is defective or psu is defective

I have had a response from some techies, " Your Hiper 3s525 525W PSU is too weak for your graphics card. It only has 29A on the +12V rail. Upgrade to a good quality 650W PSU with at least 40A/+12V and an 80%+ efficiency rating. "

So there you go..... upgrade your PSU (if yours does match the recommended upgrade) If you have a good PSU with good wattage I am not sure what you can do ?
hope this helps ??

Paul.
