Some laptops come with aftermarket cards, it depends on the model.

Generally speaking, no you can't, most laptops can't have their graphics capabilities upgraded. There are a few laptops that can, but those are the more expensive ones, typically selling for $1500+. There are external devices that allow you to connect a desktop graphics card to a laptop using an ExpressCard slot. However, the bandwidth this gives you is quite limited and most graphics cards will be severely bottlenecked with such a setup, leading to rather poor performance.
