Here's what I have in mind so far....

SilverStone Raven RV02-E
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=16179 $185

Corsair AX850 Gold Power Supply
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=15251
(or possibly the HX850 for $219 )

Intel Core i5 2500K
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=16531 $229

ASUS P8Z68-V Pro Motherboard B3
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=17336 $219

G.Skill Ripjaws X F3-12800CL8D-8GBXM (2x4GB) DDR3
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=186_912&products_id=16934 $79
(possibly just get the cheaper CL9 version for $65)

CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO CPU Cooler
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=18670 $39

GeForce GTX 570 of some description, at the moment looking at the original EVGA version with the reference cooler that vents out the rear, CPL has them for $365. Looking to upgrade to a second GTX 570 in a few months time if required but it seems like enough at the moment to run everything.

LG GH22NS70 22x SATA DVD-RW Drive OEM
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=17078 $25

Crucial M4 SSD 128GB
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=17685 $239

Seagate Barracuda 1TB ST31000524AS
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=16679 $109

(Hard drives seem to have gone up in price... flooding in Bangkok?)

Still tossing up over KB/mouse.

Eyeing off a ASUS VG236H 23in Widescreen 3D LCD Monitor
http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=15266 $519 but otherwise will go for a random sub $200 LCD

Notes: Went for a power supply that could cope with SLI'd 570's later on. Happy to spend a little more on a nice case if it's going to keep things quiet and cool.

Feedback appreciated, thanks.

More about requesting feedback 2000 build
  1. I would recommend the HX850, or even HX1050, it would be cheaper or around the same price, and Gold to Silver isnt a noticeable difference. I would like to see you jump up to a GTX580, or down to a GTX560, Ti if you do not want to overclock the gpu. The 570 for the price is not worth going form a GTX560, and the GTX580 is only a little more, but a much better buy.

As far as your case selection, i would like to see you go with a CM HAF seried, preferrably the 932 or X. Full case with lots of features, and i think you will like the cooling and rather quiet performance of it.
  2. Antec High Current Pro 850W 80Plus Gold Modular $210

Pretty much the equivalent of the AX/HX850, but cheaper.

Thanks for the advice on PSU. I have to say though, the HAF cases are damn ugly. Also, the GTX 580 is not 'a little more', it is nearly $200 more at around $569.
  4. GTX580 is a little more than the GTX570. sorry. and the HAF might not be appealing to you, but they work. Look at Corsair 600T cases. they might take your fancy a bit more.
